The day I discovered Canva, is the day that my creative side took off! Canva is a game-changer for entrepreneurs and small businesses looking to create stunning visuals without the need for extensive design expertise. It has incredible features and can do quite a significant amount of things. To help you out, I’ve shared some of my favourite design tips when it comes to various text features. 

Font Pairing

Complementary fonts create a visually appealing hierarchy. Pair a bold headline font with a simpler, easy-to-read body font. Canva offers a variety of font combinations, but you can also experiment with your own choices for a unique look.

Contrast and Readability

Ensure good contrast between the text and the background to enhance readability. Dark text on a light background or vice versa often works well. Adjust the transparency or apply shadows to the text if necessary to make it stand out against busy backgrounds.

Hierarchy and Emphasis

Use different font sizes, weights, and styles to establish a clear hierarchy. Headings should be larger and more prominent than body text. Apply emphasis to key words or phrases using bold, italic, or underline features.

Typography Effects

Experiment with typography effects like shadows, outlines, and highlights to add depth and visual interest to your text.

Color

Choose colors for your text that complement the overall color scheme of your design. Make sure the text color contrasts well with the background for readability.

Whitespace

Don’t overcrowd your text. Leave enough whitespace around your text elements to give them room to breathe and improve readability.
